Malalai JoyaAfghan parliamentarian Malalai Joya speaks about Women in Afghanistan today: threats and aspirations

Malalai Joya was elected to the first Afghan parliament but evicted for speaking out against the warlords. For the last five years she has lived under constant threat and moves between safe houses daily. She is the author of Raising my Voice, an autobiography written with Derrick O'Keefe.

The speaking tour was supported by District 23 Zontians in Area 2 (SA & NT) and the Australian Eucation Union.

RAWA member Shazia visited Australia in late May and June. Proceedings from all events of the upcoming tour went towards support for RAWA's Hewad High School in Rawalpindi and OPAWC's Vocational Training Centre.
